Commercial Photography
Commercial photographers take photos of buildings, models, merchandise, artifacts and landscapes that are used for promotional purposes in books, reports, advertisements and catalogs, for example. Commercial photographs typically are used entirely in the retail and wholesale sectors and in sales materials or for promotional efforts. Advertising Photography
The world of advertising photography is broader than the narrower array of techniques used in commercial photography. The advertising photographer uses a wide variety of photographs to sell not only products but lifestyles, concepts and ideas. Product photography
Product photography is a branch of commercial photography which is about accurately but attractively representing a product. The principal application of product photography is in product catalogues and brochures, with a proportion of product images also being used in advertising.
Fashion photography
This is a genre of photography devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. Fashion photography is most often conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or Elle. Over time, fashion photography has developed its own aesthetic in which the clothes and fashions are enhanced by the presence of exotic locations or accessories.
Glamour photography
This is generally a composed image of a subject in a still position. The subjects of "glamour" photography for professional use are often professional models, and the photographs are normally intended for commercial use, including mass-produced calendars, pinups and men's magazines; but amateur subjects are also sometimes used, and sometimes the photographs are intended for private and personal use only. Photographers use a combination of cosmetics, lighting and airbrushing techniques to produce an appealing image of the subject.
